How do I stop my cat wee'ing on the beds....??????
Asked by Sharon K | 3 Answers
When our cat Hollie was 8 months old we discovered that she had wee'd on one of the beds (duvets). She had been spayed 2 months previous and was using a litter tray.
Now she goes outside and still we have this problem..!!
Duvets got washed and for 6 months have been putting foil 'space blankets' on beds. These stop her from going on beds..
But a couple of weeks ago I was late putting foil on our bed and she wee'd and she's done it again today....!!!!!!
Help......!!!!
I am assuming that Hollie still uses the litter tray sometimes, but would prefer the duvet if available. The habit may have started because she was trapped in the bedroom on the first occassion. It is important to thoroughly clean the duvet so that it does not continue to smell like her toilet, use an enzymatic cleaner such as Urine Off. Ensure that there is a litter tray in your bedroom for Hollie to use. It may be that the other litter tray is situated in a busy room and she has a preference for the quiet bedroom.
Hollie no longer has a litter tray and loves being outside.
She was never trapped in the bedroom when she first did it and this morning came in, plodded upstairs, wee'd and came back down....!!! No stress, fright etc....
I have used biological washing powder and that stuff that takes away urine smell but no good... Don't want to spray on 'get off' spray as it stinks..!!
Also tried Femiway but doesnt seem to have made a difference.
Shut the bedroom door and put a littertray outside and then gradually start to move it downstairs. She needs to learn that there is an alternative place to toilet within the house and she is clearly showing a preference for toiletting inside rather than outside (more privacy and no other cats staring at you!)
