Hello, I'm sorry to hear your sad news. But, I too have ferral cats, and if you wish to take him in a catbox, you could put some food in the bottom, then when he gets in, shut the box, although he should get stressed and scared anyway, unless he knows you and trusts you. Otherwise you could ask your vet for a sleeping pill. Regards Alice xx

Vet answer
Dear Chris
You need a specially designed cat catcher cage.
These oblong metal devices and you bait them with food. When the cat goes in, it trips a plate that shuts the door. You must do this during a period when you can check regularily.
The RSPCA do have them, but a better bet may be the CPL (Cats Protection League) This wonderful charity are countrywide and volunteers do fantastic work in catching and neutering feral cats. Ask your local vet and they will give you a contact number.
Good Luck Neil

Hi Christine
If you are worried about his welfare then it’s best that you catch him as soon as you can so you can take him in for an examination. It might be that he so weak you can just catch him up by placing a blanket over him and place him into a box. Or try and use food to entice him into the box as quietly as you can. However, don’t chase him around. The procedure of catch up will be stressful for a cat who has never been handled so I would ask your local RSPCA and vet surgery how they would go about doing this. They may lend you a humane cat trapping box.
Good luck and they must have had a lovely time living wild in your garden.
