Cats are quite good at getting our attention through using their voice. Usually we respond by giving them food or attention. Make sure that there are other things he can do rather than pester you. Use a cat treat ball or cat nip mice so that he can amuse himself. If he is able to go outside then scatter some dry cat kibble in the grass so that he has to 'hunt' for it. Even if he is an indoor cat, you can do the same in the house!
