Why is my Cat being sick?
Asked by Tracey T | 1 Answer
Every day and night, been to the Vet given antibiotics, she's happier but sick lots. She has always been sick every day just once though. She is two yr old.
Hi Tracey, so it is definately NOT normal to routinely vomit and I would suggest taking your girl back to the vet to have a discussion about further diagnostics and investigation. There are many reasons cats will vomit; from overgrooming if they are long coated, eating food too quickly, overproduction of gastric acid, organ distension through to more severe medical conditions such as intoxication or Renal disease. If vomiting does not resolve with symptomatic treatment i.e. tx for vomiting such as a gut stimulant (Pro-kinetic), bland diet, ant-acid medication then the next stage would definately be to consider bloods, followed potentially by x-ray, Endoscopy and ultimately gut biopsies....while i appreciate this may seem extreme your wee one is only 2 years old and will hopefully have a long and vomit free life ahead of her! so it is important to try and resolve the issue sooner. I would like a further clinical exam to look for any abdominal discomfort and would want to know more of her history so is it roughly the same time of day she vomits? is it bile, food, froth or all that she is bringing up. How is she in the interim? what food does she get and has it been changed etc..etc..what breed, are there other cats at home does she get to go out?? I would definately recommend you have a chat to your vet about further investigation..
