Taking Care of Animals
Pets are enormous fun and good company but before purchasing a pet, please make sure you know how to look after it. If you have children, remember that pets are not toys and you must be prepared to teach your children to respect and care for them like any other member of the family. A number of sites have details on how to care for your pet. A good place to start is the RSPCA's set of leaflets which can be downloaded from their care sheets page Sadly, the various rescue organisations are inundated with pets that have been bought by people who hadn't thought about the cost of keeping the animal or making arrangements for it when they went on holiday. So please remember to think about this before you buy your pet and also take the time and trouble to check out the seller.
